From the Principal
Recently, we heard from some of our most recent graduates about their first few months of ‘post schooling life’. There is no doubt that on completing Year Twelve there is a real sense of achievement and, at the same time, a sense of elation about a life full of choices, decisions and experiences as a young adult. We hope that Cathedral equips our students with the insights needed to know the strengths and interests, and the skills and information required to succeed in an individual’s chosen field, whatever that may be.
Our 2018 Leavers are already well on their way. It is difficult to mention the whereabouts of all of our Year Twelves, but I can tell you in brief that Tahnee is studying to be a Paramedic in Bendigo, Tori a Bachelor of Creative Writing, Josh a Bachelor of Science, Danielle a double degree at ANU for a Bachelor of International Relations and a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and Abby a Bachelor of Biomedicine at The University of Melbourne who also volunteers as part of the YouTHrive mentoring program. And if you happen to be flying in the near future, Julian Corso is completing a Bachelor of Aviation/Business in Melbourne and is juggling his studies with weekends flying for his Commercial Pilot License; I can vouch that he has all the character strengths needed to fly well!
Each and every one of our students who departed last year seems to be doing good things in this world. We know that much rests on the individual, the family support and the motivation to succeed, but we hope that in some way Cathedral is able to help guide and shape its young people into being good human beings.
